Why blog?
To see the progress of my smile- to see where it takes me in life, who it lets me meet and what it lets me see. For me, a smile isn’t just an expression- it’s a lifestyle- a way for me to give and receive happiness, a medicine for my struggles, a stronghold for me as I pursue my life goal.
With that, the greatest thing that I want to see is this: the broken smile depicting the indescribably sweet surprise of mothers reuniting with their children who were once victims of human and sex trafficking. According to the US Department of State, each year 600,000 to 800,000 men, women and children become victims of human trafficking internationally. The majority of which are forced into commercial sex labor. To hear such statistics kills me inside. And my longing to see that smile on mothers increases exponentially. I hope that my passion to see that smile never dies-rather, as I grow, learn, struggle, I hope to see that passion do nothing but increase. Even this blog- I hope to use to keep me accountable to my commitment, my determination, my passion to see that smile- a smile so deep, demonstrating all the bitterness, anger, sadness, longing to see their child- and the moment when all of those emotions are released as they reunite with their children… the moment i see this, I feel I can smile forever…
